In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones also support a wide variety of other services such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access, short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth),
business applications, gaming and photography. Mobile phones that offer
these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones.
The first hand-held mobile phone was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell[1][2][3]and Dr Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973, using a handset weighing around 2.2 pounds (1 kg).[4] In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x
was the first to be commercially available. From 1990 to 2011,
worldwide mobile phone subscriptions grew from 12.4 million to over 6
billion, penetrating about 87% of the global population and reaching the
bottom of the economic pyramid.
Many
people has handphone, now. from child until adult. In this globalitation
era handphone is not expensive items so, many people can to buy it.
Handphone

On
the other hand, the increasing number of customers can’t be
accommodated first generation. Furthermore, the technology can only
serve 1G voice communications, unlike 2G can be used for SMS. NMT or
Nordic Mobile Telephone is the analog mobile phone network was first
used internationally in Northern Europe. This network operates on the
450 MHz frequency so often referred to NMT-450, there is also the
NMT-900 operating at 900 MHz.
Given
the demands of the market and the need for better quality, technology
born second generation, or 2G. This generation is already using digital
technology. Another 2G IS-95 CDMA, IS-136 TDMA and PDC. The second
generation not only used for voice communication, SMS, and also be able
to transfer data at a maximum speed of 9,600 bps (bits per second). For
comparison, the widely used modem for Internet connection speed 56,000
bps (5.6 kbps).
Excess 2G t han
1G in addition to better service, in terms of capacity is also greater.
Due to the 2G, the frequency can be used multiple customers using a
mechanism Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA).
After
2G, 2.5 G was born generation which is a better version of the second
generation. 2.5 This generation has the ability to transfer data faster.
The famous of this generation is GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)
and EDGE.
3rd
generation or 3G is the latest technology in the mobile world. This
generation is better known as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication
System) or WCDMA (Wideband - Coded Division Multiple Access). Excess
generation is located at data transfer speeds up to 384 kbps outdoors.
Cell
phones and smartphones will differ in the menu options and buttons, but
in general, the process of sending a text message to someone else's
phone is pretty straightforward. Here the step to send message :
From
your phone's main menu find the "Messages" or "Messaging" option or
application. Then select "Text Message" or "Text Messaging."
Choose
"New Message" or "Write Message" or click on an icon that looks like it
will create a new message (on my version of Android, it's a + sign; on
the iPhone it's a square with a line, like a pen on paper).
In
the To: field enter in the phone number of the cell phone you want to
send the message to. Many phones now let you select a contact from your
phone's address book, so you could try typing in their name in the field
to see if it will fill in the number for you. You can send a text
message to more than one contact at a time on the iPhone and Android
phones by clicking on the plus sign icon or continuing to enter contacts
in the To: field.
If
you want to send a message with an attachment like a photo, find the
"Insert" option in the messaging menu (on the iPhone, click on the
camera icon). This will bring up your options for sending a photo,
video, etc.
Finally, type in your message in the message field and hit "Send".
